My New PC

Okay, this PC isn’t exactly "new" per se, because I built it a few months ago.  However, I wanted to make a post to show you folks what I’m running.  Read on to check out the specs of my new PC:

My new PC

  • Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Processor @ 2.40GHz
  • 4 GB OCZ Platinum PC6400 DDR2 800MHz
  • Asus P5N-D Motherboard
  • KFA2 GeForce 8600 GT Video Card - 512MB DDR2, PCI Express, SLI Ready
  • 2 Western Digital Caviar SE16 500GB SATA Hard Drive
  • Lite-On Super-Multi LH20A1H Lightscribe CD/DVD Burner
  • Thermaltake CPU Fan with Copper Heatpipes
  • Vantec Spectrum PCI Fan Card
  • Apevia Iceberg 680-Watt Power Supply
  • Cooler Master 120MM Blue LED Silent Sleeve Bearing Case Fan
  • Ultra Black Aluminus ATX Full-Tower Case
  • Microsoft Windows XP x64

This sucker powered on after the very first try and I haven’t had any problems whatsoever.  Although, I will say that that the CPU fan I bought is much louder than I would have liked.  I think I might replace it one of these days.

Also, I was debating as to whether or not I wanted to buy Vista x64, but I quickly shot that idea down after I decided that I didn’t want to deal with that nightmare.  XP x64 has been good to me thus far, aside from a few programs not being supported (which I found alternatives for anyway).  All of this stuff cost me around $1300 from Tiger Direct which is not too shabby.  Did I mention that the power supply’s LED light changes color?  Dumb, yet amazing.

I went with Vista on my “media center” (which has quickly become the dominant PC of the house) and haven’t really regretted it. I don’t interface with much other than a wireless keyboard and wireless internet and both work flawlessly.

the PC looks awesome! I went with some blue in mine as well and have loved it so far. your case looks a lot like an Alienware I had a while back (save the side window) and I really really enjoyed it.
